I usually read three books a month ... So for the Month of November, I thought of buying either "God Secrets", "Wired for Success, Programmed for Failure" by Dr. James B Richards, or "MegaTrends" by John Naisbitt. Turns out that I was like ..."Screw this" and I bought all the three.10 THINGS YOU WILL GET FROM THIS BOOKI've seen countless prophets telling people's social security number, bank accounts, names of people they've never met before and so on.This all happened while living in Brazil many years ago. (Yes, things in Brazil are A LOT hardcore regarding The Spirit World. They have churches where you only need to step your feet in, they know what you are thinking. I have a friend that was thinking about spaghetti during the service and the pastor received a word of knowledge about that. The spiritual atmosphere is SUPER intense. i don't know how to explain why this happens) I'm 33 years old and believe me, I've seen a lot. A LOT.However, I've never seen one of these prophets telling me how to use the prophetic gifts like they do. They told me only the basics. Usually when I asked them how to use the gifts, they told me this: "If you want to start operating in this gift, you'll have to pray a lot. But pray a lot IN TONGUES like a lot throughout the day. Read the bible a lot but pray much more than reading your bible. The power comes from praying in the Spirit." So, I did what they told me. I prayed in tongues like 1 hour a day for several weeks and YES. This really works. I started receiving all sort of words of knowledge and when I prayed for people they started falling on the floor. But after a while, I've realized that It's not only that.The gift is like a living seed. God gives it to you and you have to water it. The gift is like a muscle: you don't use it, it doesn't grow. God's gifts come in the seed form, you have to exercise them a lot to potentiate them to the extreme.With that being said, I can tell you that Shawn REALLY knows what he is talking about on God Secrets. In this book, he will be teaching you many things. But there are 10 major things that I got to me, that I believe you will get for you too. The author will teach you:1) How to use Words of Knowledge, not only for the ministry but for your DAILY LIFE.2) How to become somebody EMOTIONALLY STABLE when you miss a word of knowledge.3) How to connect to people you don't know when delivering a word of knowledge.4) He will help you to understand that sometimes the gift is not clear and you'll have to translate what it says.5) He will explain the science behind the brain when receiving a word of knowledge (he will associate to the spiritual brain)6) He will tell you that it's ok to fail7) He will tell you that you have to exercise it even when you don't feel like it8) Everyone can learn how to use the gift9) He will brush the idea of spiritual mentoring10) How to study the 33 types of words of knowledgeTHINGS THAT I WISH SHAWN COULD WRITE ABOUT:The important difference between Words of Knowledge and discernment. He talked a lot about it in this book. But I wish to have a book where he would be talking very specifically about this subject. Because even though I've read God Secrets in two days .. I'm still confused about it.ABOUT THE GOD SECRET'S WORKBOOK:I wish the book had a pitch for me to buy the workbook. I thought God's secrets would be telling me the importance of purchasing the Workbook and .. It actually didn't talk much about it. Just here and there he said the book will help me with something ... But it was not compelling. So I don't know what the workbook is all about. I thought he would be using the book to give me some air of mystery to make me buy the workbook ... but it wasn't there. After reading God Secrets, I don't know if i should buy the book. (Because I don't know what this is all about)WHAT I WISH I HAD SEEN IN THIS BOOK:I wish I had more of chapter 8 and also more about mentoring. You know .. if Shawn had a monthly online prophetic mentoring program on his website, I would sign up in a heart beat.In overall, this book is indeed amazing. When I like a book, I really drop my review freely. Nobody asked me to do it but I had a blast with that.Shawn is genuine and while reading God Secrets, I felt like he really wants us to succeed and go to the next level. He is this type of guy that loves people and encourages everyone to be successful. He is AWESOME!Blessings and love!
I have to say that i love everything that Shawn writes and teaches. I have three of his books and numerous MP3 sets of his. I feel that he is one of the most loving Christians and well balanced teachers I have ever known. This book is a triumph for him and it must have come from a lot of writing and editing. As a writer myself, I know that you first have to know your message, live your message and then share your message in a way that can be easily understood. I have read 50 books on the prophetic and never tire of reading books on the subject, but Shawn seems to focus more on love in his teachings than the gift that he has.I know Shawn draws from his love relationship that he has with Jesus and he just pours that love out on people. He doesn't mind when he "misses" and his intention isn't to be right, his intention int he share Jesus' love with people, and in that intention he never misses. This book is full of great information and some great stores that have been used really well to illustrate his points. As a person that has prophesied for 20 years and who has written 4 books on the prophetic, I see Shawn as a person who is leading a new army of lovers. The book highlights scripture and personal stories to impart faith to the reader. As a pastor I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to know God in a more intimate way. As a believer, Shawn's humility in letting the reader in on his process convince me that the types of testimonies shared throughout the book are possible for whosoever would desire to grow in hearing God's voice.
