This book is definitely worth it for the amount of time and aggravation it saves by giving you direct access to the plug ins and a brief write up of each. The book is divided into functions which makes it easy to manoeuvre around. For a resource book, this is what you need for referring frequently to the plugins needed for a website or blog. With so many choices out there, and so many "bad" plugins that are a waste of time, it is great to have this book as a reliable source for when in doubt. I would certainly recommend this book if you want to save yourself time and hair loss.
I found the general idea of the book and it’s list of plugins to be helpful and a time-saver. The criteria for including a plug-in makes sense and that is well-explained.But it’s a book. And it looks like it was written to be published in a solely electronic format as it has links in it that you can’t see and obviously can’t click.It also appears to have been put together without the help of a good editor. It’s a bit clumsy in the reading as the grammar and sentence structure are poor with some sentences actually meaning the opposite of what the author intends. (And I’m not referring to the plugin listing grammar that does not belong to the author, but his own writing in the first 28 pages.) A good editor would have caught all these mistakes and, more importantly, made the reading flow easily for the reader.As for actual personal experience with each plugin, there does not seem to be any. I.e., the author has told us which plugins he prefers but has not given us any advice on how to use them.I will say, there are some sections on general Wordpress use that are very helpful and that I wish I had read at the beginning of my Wordpress exploration.In summary, It’s worth having for reference sake but should have employed more professional editing.
Being "new" to WordPress, I found much of the information, jargon and narratives used to be confusing. Within that confusion was the plethora of module names and their functions (called "plugins") of which I had zero knowledge, yet those thing are essential to learning WordPress. Everything I needed to know about those titles are contained in this Kindle book. I've already installed several of them, and have a much better understanding of the functionality of WordPress ... and, more specifically: Plugins! Highly recommend this book.
Although this book is available as a Kindle Unlimited selection, I bought it because my Unlimited bookshelf is usually full. After skimming through it cover to cover I am certainly glad I did. As a WordPress newbie, I will be going back to it often. Already one reference it contains on obtaining free SSL certificates has saved me 40 times what I paid for the book.
This is a good start if you're look for free WordPress Plugins. I recommend it, especially for the very reasonable price. It's not extraordinary, but a good start to the plugin world.
I always say that the perfect book finds you at the perfect time. I had been wanting to make some changes to my website but was sure how to approach the project. After finding this book, I now have several ideas of how I can do if for free! I know I'll be revisiting this guide again and again. Thank you Chad!
The book is very helpful with identifying plugins for different items. There is one major issue with this publishing, many of the descriptions are not complete. There are numerous examples of partial sentences or missing content within the book.Example: Featured Video PlusContent: "Add Featured Videos to your posts and pages. Works like magic with most themes which" ...Please let me know if this is simply my print or an issue with the publication in total.Thank you for your time.
If you use WordPress this book is a must-have!
It was Okay! But, hard to navigate through it. Kind of a mish mash of plugins without a decent index.
