After years of using the NFT guide to New York City, I bought this guide for my daughter who recently moved to Philadelphia. While I am sure she will get some use out of it, I have two major complaints. Unlike the NYC edition, there are no bus routes given on the maps. The NYC edition has 3 maps for each neighborhood. Philadelphia's has only 2 per neighborhood, leaving off Transportation, which is arguably the most useful of the 3. Also, this guide does not include all the neighborhoods -- especially North and Northeast Philadelphia.
This is a steaming pile of dog crap. The map resolution is so bad that they are unusable and the information contained in this book is about useless to anyone. I used to love this series of books, no more!!
I really like the Not For Tourists series. Unbeatable for a publication, it is second only to having a very knowledgeable resident lead you around to wherever you want to go or happen to be. If you like to see a city the way those who live there do, I recommend this.
If you are just visiting our fair city to take in the sights for a couple days, you probably don't need so much detail.This guide has great maps.Suggest for those who have just moved here including students or flks who live in the burbs who want to find out more about where to go when they come into town.I wish they would expand the series.
Love the size of this book, although it's a bit hard to read due to the extremely small font. This book always makes me feel like I really have an excellent sense of the neighborhoods I'll be in. This is really the one.
I would highly recommend waiting for this book to come out in Braille. Better yet, select another guidebook in which information & maps can be easily gleaned & highlighted for reference.
