I am an avid user of Lockheed Martin’s Prepar3d, but I’m more than simply a simulator pilot. I hold a commercial instrument multi-/single engine certificate and have flown 1250 hours. I have 35 hours as a pilot in command of turbine aircraft, though all of my turbine time has been single engine. As a moderately experience aviator, I was very impressed with Mr. Hurst’s work. This man is passionate, intelligent, thorough, yet pragmatic. He writes very well and at the level of his audience. This book isn’t simply a text describing third-party add on software, but a book enabling a richer and more meaningful understanding of Twin Otter systems and operations all while acknowledging the limitations of the simulation but pointing out its strengths and fidelity. Mr. Hurst didn’t simply seek to write a fan piece here, rather he delves deeply enough into aeronautics to be very satisfying, yet doesn’t drag the reader through overly technical explanations. A very impressive labor of love. I emphatically recommend this book to anyone who flys Aerosoft’s Twin Otter Extended!!
If you love realistic flight sim this is definite a book to buy. Lots of detailed information about the Twin Otter. Helps you understand many of the systems and adds realism to your flights. Applies both to the FSX and Prepar3d versions as it talks about aircraft systems more than program keystrokes. I’d love to see other books on other aircrafts as well. Definitely worth it.
