Although the folksy booklet has historical interest, the explanations are incomplete. The photos and illustrations are awful. They are even hard to use if the reader knows the plant. It's impossible to use them for identification purposes. There are many better sources for well done illustrations and complete information on wild foods. Foraging can be dangerous if the wrong plant is eaten or is eaten in the wrong way. I can't recommend this booklet for that reason.
All the Foxfire books are interesting to read. The hard back books are good, but I can buy more by ordering the ones I can get fr my Kindle. Great books. Try them.
I've got the whole series, but start with the Foxfire Box-- it will hook you. Living simplified. Homeschooling manual for country living. Some are dated, but in general these are so good, they could almost be called survivalists guides. Not like reading a manual or encyclopedia-- entertaining while very informative. Complete with dialect. Like reading short stories.
So glad to find this in the Kindle version. I love the Foxfire series.
I'm not from Appalacia but a bit North myself. My "heritage" however resonates to these people and their lifestyle. This all needs to not onlybe preserved but celebrated.

Good book and easy to read, but the illustrations are too tiny to be useful.
It suits my present interests and is written in down-to-earth fashion.
